Sometimes it seemed like this song would not survive but then it did grow up. Now I believe we’re nearly ready to go off into the world like that time we saw the coyote steal the pot of beans from the redneck camp and run across the road and we theorized it was because they flew a flag on the edge of the wilderness that witnessing the crime felt so cathartic.

DROP ALL PRETENSES IN TRYING TO PLEASE SOCIETY, AND FOCUS PURELY ON THE JOY THAT’S FOUND IN A RUTHLESS, UNAPOLOGETIC, PURSUIT OF SURVIVAL.

💀
-I’ve added a xylophone
-I redid my two guitar parts to illustrate the idea begun in Pescadero by Jason of baton passing.
-I added backing vocals
-I recorded and comped lead vocals
-I edited existing guitar parts to shape the arrangement and ducked the piano out of the final chorus.

I believe my work is done here. There was some discussion as to whether we want to bring in a better realized piano in the ending chorus. I’m open to it. I like the big, unconventionally forward backing vocals and am fairly certain the lead vocals comp is correct. Guitar parts are to illustrate an idea and can be replaced if you want them in a different tonal spectrum and / or can play a better part.
