MAY 20, 2011 // PLAYING THE VIOLIN WITH BROKEN STRINGS (AMSTERDAM)
AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS
We brought a Marantz digital audio recorder, a video camera, and a tripod with us. Part of the idea of this tour was to make experimental documentations of the songs we knew using the sound recorded from both the Marantz and the video camera. The files have been sitting on hard drives for many years since. This was the first one where I tried to sync the audio and video and also I think the first video we shot. I believe it’s a tiny bit off but in an interesting way. Maybe I’ll fix it later, and maybe not.
PLAYING THE VIOLIN WITH BROKEN STRINGS. AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS. DADCAM + MARANTZ.
Playing the Violin with Broken Strings is available on The Light Switches’ studio album titled Spells. This version of the band has Michael Musika playing guitar and singing and Eric Kuhn playing guitar. The setting here is Vondel Park in Amsterdam. It’s a very nice park. This was early in the tour when we were staying at the apartment of a film maker named Lotje Sodderland. She was not there until we returned from the whole trip and was locked out of her apartment while we were gone. How generous and forgiving she was about this, and just what an interesting person and artist she turned out to be helped make the tour very memorable.
