-I like the vocal take and how it’s produced. This was before I used the bussing method…sending each vocal track to a bus that has EQ and compression on it. Then sending the Bus to an aux track for Space Reverb, and J-37 delay. In this case I just had an aux track for the lead vocal and no bus. It sounds full and like it’s coming from a rainy place I want to go to in a northern coastal town that’s made out of stones. Maybe the lesson is to not be shy on the effects when ultimately treating the vocals. Anyway, I exported the comp of the vocal take to try in the final version.
-The organ hook that starts in the intro is cool.
-There’s no piano on this version, which is interesting.
-The drums include a snare for texture and I like the sound of this snare.
-There’s also a rim part which I’ve been told is wrong, but I like it ok.
-there’s lots of pretty good celeste ideas. As noted below, too many.
-Backing vocals on chorus are nice. I exported them for possible use on the final version.
-This is the version that still has the cut up drums that Eric played live that I used to build the beat with midi drums. I have it muted.
-I added an automated Space Echo to one of the celestes on the instrumental. I sounds cool and was a good learning experiment.

-This has been labeled in my files as the “JSB” version. JSB as in Johan Sebastian Bach, a reference on how complex and ornamental this one is. Too many details without enough classical training. It’s very busy and overwhelming to listen to. It’s messy. It was a good learning experience to make it.
